The Ladies of the 37th Alabama The Ladies of the 37th have progressed in the last 6years from 2 active ladies portraying cooks to the 20+ active ladies we have now portraying refugees, soldiers, nurses, visiting ladies from nearby towns and more. We continue to progress in our impressions of women in the south during Civil War times by meeting once a month to learn crafts, discuss famous women, and work on our living history impressions. We are portraying the nineteenth century roles within the family which were very different than those of today. Our children may play and enjoy themselves to their heart's content, as long as they are properly supervised. Correct period dress is necessary for all living in the camps. There are often special activities for civilians at the events such as, a ladies' tea on Saturdays and almost always a dance with period music on Saturday nights. Every Sunday morning there is a non-denominational church service held as it was held over 150 years ago
